Bears, Beets, Backgammon.

If your face breaks into a smile at the mere mention of the words “Bears, Beets, Battle Star Galactica,” you can definitely be my friend. If not, we’ll have to work on that. Because the Office is the best TV show ever, seriously. Identity theft is not a joke Jim! Okay, I’ll stop now.

B is for Backgammon, which is the game I pretty much played all day today on the computer. Honestly, what else are supposed to do in the summer? I have no school work to catch up on, I’m busy procrastinating reading the 4 books I’m working on, I don’t have to work until the evening, and I have no appointments honor. Backgammon is an excellent past time/time waster.

If you’ve never played backgammon before then you need to. Like, right now. Don’t come back until you’re thoroughly obsessed with it and are pulling out your hair because the computer player is a huge jerk. Um, be quiet I have issues.

You can find the rules here and I’m almost positive that if you dig around in your parents’ basement/garage you’ll definitely find a board and the pieces to it. People use to play it a while ago, when it was cool. I even found a picture of Bob Dylan playing backgammon hehe :)

People will definitely think you’re hipster/vintagey if you play it in the park with your friend. Although, you’ll both need to be wearing impractical scarves and skinny jeans. And be smoking.

How did this turn into a discourse about being a hipster? I’m gonna stop talking now…

Thank goodness it’s Friday! See you on Monday lovely people!

  1. I have never played backgammon and have no idea how to. I’ll have to take a look into it. ;)

    1. It’s so fun! I’m really good at it, too. That makes it loads more fun :)

      1. Definitely. A game can be fun even if you’re not good at it, but if you’re good at it, then “fun” is taken to a whole new level. ;)

  2. I’ve played Backgammon a few times but it always confused me.
    Dang.
Also, The Office is so awesome. In fact, my B was Bears, Beets, Battlestar Galactica so we’re on the same page here. ;)

    1. If it makes you feel any better, it took my about a year to even learn how to play properly. It was during a “mom is pregnant, i’m not going to do schoolwork” phase :P

      Muahah! Awesomeness :)

  3. I’m pretty sure I’ve played backgammon maybe 3 times? and my dad beat me every time. I think it scarred me, which is why I haven’t played it since.

    1. YOU ARE MISSING OUT!

Sorry, I just love this game…

  4. I was pretty much chortling to myself the whole time I was reading this.

    1. I love The Office, and I indeed grinned before reading your comment about smiling. :P
    2. I love Backgammon. As children, my sisters and I would play it every Sunday afternoon – we had an old wooden set covered with felt and everything! Man, I haven’t thought of that in years!

So… can we be friends now? xD

    1. Ahh yes! See, everyone does it :P Backgammon is great and I’m pretty sure we have the same board.

So yes, I guess we can :P
